On 22nd Feb 2017 astronomers made a big announcement on the discovery of a new star system. Further, they also found about 7 Earth-like rocky planets in that star system. Three of these rocky planets lies in the goldilocks zone (habitable zone). The goldilocks zone refers to the region near a star which may have water in liquid form (theoretically).
Astronomers also indicated the possibility of huge oceans on the surface of these three planets. Other planets have the least possibility of liquid water on its surface.
TRAPPIST 1, a newly found star system will give planetary researchers an exceptional new window on the arrangement of galaxies and the conduct of rough universes.
TRAPPIST 1 is the first type of star system ever found to have 7 earth like planets and also may content aliens. Space Investigators are currently investigating to find an evidence of life on those planets. The discovery has also given a future target in search of life beyond our solar system.
I am sure that if even life is not found on those planets, it may grow there eventually. The TRAPPIST 1 star system may survive for next 10 trillion years. Some questions being asked to me on my social media page /messenger are answered below:
Is TRAPPIST 1 an Accidental Discovery?
No. Scientists observed TRAPPIST 1 in 2010, then after 34 follow-up observations, they proposed the new star system with seven planets.
Who Discovered TRAPPIST 1?
How far is TRAPPIST 1?
TRAPPIST 1 is 40 light years away. With today’s advanced technology, it would take 100 million years to reach the new star system.
Humans always wondered “Are we Alone in the whole Universe?” and now we are on verge of answering this question.TRAPPIST 1 is 39 light years far from earth with high chances of the habitable zone.
